For What is Sarajevo Known for?

As a capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo, just like the whole Balkan region, went through turbulent history. The city was founded in XV century during the Ottoman rule of the region, and the Old Town Sarajevo has well preserved Ottoman heritage. Here are some sights in Old Town that we recommend:

1. Yellow Fortress

Located just above the Old Town at the beginning of urban Sarajevo and from here you’ll have most beautiful panoramic spot of the whole Miljacka river valley and city of Sarajevo. Getting here by foot is a bit challenging as it is around 15 minutes walk uphill, but you can always use taxi.
