Our 7-day Balkan tour takes you through five Balkan countries in one week: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania and North Macedonia. It starts in Sarajevo and ends in Skopje, so you see the most famous places of the Balkans without travelling back the same way.
You begin in Sarajevo and drive through the Neretva canyon to Mostar and its Old Bridge, the Dervish House in Blagaj and the Kravica Waterfalls, before spending a night by the sea in Neum. Then you continue along the Adriatic coast to the walled city of Dubrovnik, the Bay of Kotor and Budva in Montenegro. From there the route goes inland to Tirana, the colourful capital of Albania, and to Lake Ohrid, one of the oldest lakes in Europe, before finishing in Skopje.
Our drivers are English-speaking guides, and in the main cities you also have licensed local guides. Accommodation in 4-star hotels with breakfast and transport between all countries are included. This multi-country Balkan tour is also available as a private tour.
This small-group 7-day Balkan tour departs from Sarajevo twice a month. Every departure starts on Sunday in Sarajevo and ends on Saturday in Skopje. Choose your date and send us your booking request.

Balkan Tour
Meet and greet at the airport. First, before checking in at the hotel, we will visit Vrelo Bosne, the protected Bosna River springs that represent the natural beauty of Bosnia and the source of the river that gave our country its name. After that, we continue to the Tunnel of Hope Museum, where you will learn about the war in Bosnia and the Siege of Sarajevo, the longest siege in modern history.
Then, we head to Baščaršija for a guided walking tour through the historic Ottoman part of the city, starting from City Hall and continuing to the Latin Bridge. Along the way, we visit the Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque courtyard, the Clock Tower, the Bezistan covered market, the Main Square, the Sacred Heart Cathedral, the Jewish Temple and the Old Orthodox Church. Because of this unique mix, you will understand why Sarajevo is called the “European Jerusalem.”
Finally, we check in at the hotel, and the rest of the day is free for you to relax or explore on your own.
After breakfast and check-out, we depart for the Herzegovina region and drive through the Neretva River canyon, one of the most scenic roads in Europe, to Mostar. Upon arrival, we enjoy a guided walking tour of the Old Town, including the famous Old Bridge, the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque and the historic bazaar, followed by some free time.
Afterwards, we continue to Blagaj, where we visit the 16th-century Dervish House (Tekke) built at the spring of the Buna River, one of the most beautiful places in Herzegovina. Our next stop is the Kravica Waterfalls, a natural amphitheatre of falls surrounded by greenery, where you can swim in summer.
Finally, we continue to Neum, the only coastal town of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the Adriatic Sea, where we check in at the hotel and stay overnight.
After breakfast and check-out, we drive along the Adriatic coast to Dubrovnik. Upon arrival, we enjoy a guided walking tour inside the stone-walled Old Town, where we visit famous Game of Thrones filming locations, the Old Pharmacy, the Rector’s Palace from the outside and the waterfront.
Afterwards, you will have free time to explore the Old Town at your own pace.
Then, we cross into Montenegro and continue along the Bay of Kotor to Kotor, where we visit the charming Old Town for approximately one and a half hours. Finally, we continue to Budva, check in at the hotel and stay overnight.
Today, we continue our journey to Albania. After approximately three hours of driving, we arrive in Tirana, the capital city. Upon arrival, we enjoy a guided city tour, visiting Skanderbeg Square, Mother Teresa Square, the Et’hem Bey Mosque, the Clock Tower, the Pyramid and the famous bunkers.
Afterwards, you will have free time to explore Tirana on your own, relax or enjoy local cafés and shops. Finally, we check in at the hotel and stay overnight in Tirana.
In the morning, we enjoy a guided tour of Ohrid, starting from the Zeynel Abidin Pasha Tekke and continuing to Samuel’s Fortress, the Church of St. Sofia, the famous Ohrid pearl shops, the Old Paper Factory and the shores of Lake Ohrid.
Afterwards, we take a one-hour boat ride on the lake, where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Then, you will have free time to explore the town at your own pace before returning to the hotel. Finally, we stay overnight in Ohrid.
After checking out from the hotel, we continue to the final destination of our tour, Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia. After arrival, we enjoy a guided walking tour starting from the Old Railway Station and continuing to the Mother Teresa Memorial House, Alexander the Great Square, the Stone Bridge, Daut Pasha Hamam, the Old Bazaar, Mustafa Pasha Mosque and the Kale Fortress.
Afterwards, we check in at the hotel, and the rest of the day is free for you to explore the city at your own pace.

By the end, we felt very lucky that we had found Tour Mage.My family and I joined their 5-country Balkan tour. One of the main reasons we chose Tour Mage was that they offered a Muslim-friendly tour, and of course the excellent reviews they had already received gave us confidence. I am happy to say that our own experience fully lived up to those reviews.From the beginning, Elvis was extremely responsive. He handled all the necessary bookings and patiently answered whatever questions we had before the trip. We also had the pleasure of having him as our guide for the Sarajevo city tour.But a very special mention must go to Muris, who was our driver from Sarajevo all the way until we departed from Skopje. He was not only a very safe and responsible driver, but also an excellent history teacher. As we travelled across the Balkans, he explained the history of the places we were passing through and, something we particularly appreciated, he was able to explain historical events from different perspectives rather than simply giving us one version of the story. In effect, we had a knowledgeable guide travelling with us throughout the entire journey, in addition to the local guides Tour Mage arranged for us in Split, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Tirana, Ohrid and Skopje. Muris also recommended halal restaurants.We stopped at a few interesting places along the way. One memorable stop was a small town famous for its roasted lamb — exactly the sort of spontaneous experience that makes a road trip memorable. Another stop is to visit an olive tree of more than 2000 years old. These stops made the journey feel much more personal, rather than simply being transported from one tourist destination to the next.Another thing Tour Mage did exceptionally well was the choice of hotels. Every hotel was in an excellent location — close to the main attractions or old towns, or in a beautiful setting. Our hotel in Sarajevo was literally inside the old town. In Neum, we had a panoramic view of the sea, while our accommodation in Ohrid was more like a spacious apartment. The locations made a real difference because we could enjoy the places even after the day's organised activities had finished.We also had a small accident during the journey due to the fault of another road user. Muris remained remarkably calm and handled the situation very well, despite the language barrier. Seeing how someone responds when something unexpected happens tells you a lot, and his calmness and professionalism gave us confidence.Overall, this was a wonderful family experience. Montenegro, to explore its historic cities and Perast, the 'Venice' of the Adriatic Sea. Croatia's coastline, to visit Dubrovnik, Mostar and the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Conclude with the beauty of Durmitor National Park and the medieval Albanian city of Shkodra. Truly enjoyable trip to all the small countries must.

January 8, 2026The actual tour went off without any issues. We were picked up at the airport on time, taken the the hotels he had booked, and visited all of the sites. I fell in love with Bosnia-Herzogina and Northern Macedonia, though all 5 of the countries were nice. We had an incredible driver - Edis with Tour Mage - who was very professional, knowledgeable, and polite. In each new country, we had a city tour and learned so much about the Balkans. We grew to love the different cultures, food, music, wine, history, and beautiful scenery. The only downsides were the very hot weather (perhaps we should have selected May or September instead of July) and bad traffic at times. Everyday was in the 90's and sometimes 100+ degrees F. However, the car was air-conditioned and so were the hotels. Due to bad traffic, we didn't have as much downtime as we expected, but still greatly enjoyed the trip. Highlights were Sarajevo, Mostar, Dubrovnik, Lake Orhic, Skopje, and the two wineries we visited. A truly wonderful trip overall!

It was challenging trying to find a tour company that would do a private tour of the Balkans, but I found Tour Mage online (via Tour Radar) and as soon as I started texting with Elvis, the owner, I felt great about the tour. He was incredibly responsive every time I reached out to him during the planning stages - even in the middle of the night Bosnia time (I am in the U.S.), and very positive.The actual tour went off without any issues. Only Bug is breakfast , we were allowed a coffee included in the trip, if not the second one was extra it seems a bit petty to me. We traveled whith the company of a very nice and friendly driver.We did'nt feel the time passed on the trip. We visited very beautiful cities. and places in every of them we were waited for local guides very competents.We learn a lot of the history and other details in their company and they answered every question we made.And of course made a lot of nice pictures everywhere. I'm very satisfied with the accomodations , we had hotels very well located and with excelent breakfast. In addition to their historical knowledge they have all these great stories to tell, know so much about contemporary issues as locals and basically if you have any questions about the Balkans from 1,000 years ago or today, they are very knowledgeable and can answer any question!It was wonderful spending the week with Edis as our driver and guide going through 5 Balkan countries. He is a great storyteller and it was great hearing about his experience living in the Balkans. He is very knowledgeable and was great company for my teenage son and I!

Tripadvisor review: 7 Days Balkan Tour Bosnia Croatia Montenegro Albania N.Macedonia The tour was an exceptional week of learning about the complex and sometimes tragic relationships of these Balkan countries. The sights were amazing and the history of each site we visited was detailed by knowledgeable local guides. Our 7-day tour was well organized and as we had a personal driver/guide (Zulfo) who was also contributing we couldn't have asked for more. Elvis and especially Zulfo gave us an experience that we won't forget. I highly recommend this tour and especially this company of guides.

I loved the various places, namely Dubrovnik, Omiš, Split, Trogir, Mostar, Čitluk, Trebinje, Kotor, Budva and Bijela.
